Coronavirus outbreak: NY to reopen manufacturing and construction sites in first reopening phase

Coronavirus outbreak: NY to reopen manufacturing and construction sites in first reopening phase New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said on Sunday that construction and manufacturing sites with low risk of COVID-19 infection will be able to reopen in the first phase of state reopening.

He added that the plan is to leave two weeks between each phase and the other to monitor the effect of gradually reopening businesses.

Cuomo said the government is working in partnership with businesses to re-imagine the new workplaces and keep them safe as the state moves into reopening.

Cuomo reported 1,000 new hospitalizations from due to COVID-19 and 367 new deaths on Sunday.

He said the new numbers continue to decline as the hospitalization rates reported on Sunday were down to the same rates reported on March 31.

New York has a total of 282,174 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 16,599 deaths as of Sunday.

During Sunday's briefing, governor Cuomo announced the reopening of the L train tunnel project between Brooklyn and Manhattan, months ahead of schedule.
