Four million COVIDSafe downloads but 'we'd love more': Stuart Robert

Government Services Minister Stuart Robert says downloads of the government’s COVIDSafe app are “tracking at about 10,000 an hour,” with more than 4.3 million Australians having done so already.

Mr Robert said there have been 700,000 more downloads since Saturday afternoon, but although downloads are tracking well “we’d love more”.

He told Sky News host Paul Murray lockdown restrictions “get eased quicker” if everyone downloads the application.
The app is designed to digitalise the manual process of tracing people who have come into contact with a person diagnosed with COVID-19.

Mr Robert said the app speeds up a process which would “normally take sometimes days” to only minutes.
