#WHO - Not a question of how fast tools can be developed, but how equally they can be distributed

#WHO - Not a question of how fast tools can be developed, but how equally they can be distributed Director-General World Health Organization (WHO), Dr Adhanom Ghebreyesus Tedros, spoke about the launch of the Access to COVID-19 Tools Accelerator (ACT Accelerator) ten days ago with French President Emmanuel Macron, Melinda Gates and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.

The initiative aims to mobilise the significant resources needed to advance work towards protecting the world from COVID-19. A collaborative taskforce has been set up to promote the development, production and equitable distribution of vaccines, diagnostics and therapeutics for COVID-19. It brings together the combined power of several organisations to work with speed and scale.

Tedros said that with vaccines were already undergoing trials but he said the ultimate measure of success would not be how quickly a vaccine can be developed but how equally tools can be distributed. He said none of us can accept a world where some people are protected while others remain exposed.
