If you follow people like Elon Musk or some other popular celebs on Twitter, then previously there’s a good chance that you came across some replies to their tweets about bitcoin giveaways. Most of those replies are tweeted by verified accounts to look genuine. Obviously those are 100% scam. We’re not sure about the verified account part yet. But most probably those are some old hacked accounts.

From the past few days we have also noticed some weird live streams on youtube about similar fake bitcoin giveaways. First it was about a speech made by Elon Musk and then it was about Tom Lee. They have nothing to do with it.

Scammers are just livestreaming an old video of them with a fake bitcoin giveaway overlay from a youtube account with thousands of fake subscribers. The weird part is they have around 70k people watching it live. As you can guess, almost 80% of those viewers are just life less bots who have nothing to do in this lockdown.

Somehow with the help of those bots they are successfully manipulating the youtube algorithm again and again. We first discovered it from the youtube homepage. Which means now, Youtube algorithm is recommending those types of scammy live streams to a lot of people automatically.

All the likes on their live stream are also fake. So many people also dislike their videos. But when the dislike count crosses a certain number they simply restart the livestream with the same number of bot viewers and a good like to dislike ratio in order to look legit.

Basically how this scam works is, In order to participate you have to send 0.1 to 20 Bitcoins to their given address. Which is equal to $950 to $190k USD. In return you’ll receive double the amount of bitcoins back in your address. Which as you may already know, you’ll never receive. But everyone isn’t smart about staying safe on the internet. So many people are falling for this trap and giving away their valuable money.
