DESCRIPTION:

In the past few years, bad ideas have seemed to proliferate. This raises the question: As a society, what is the best way to address them? Do we ban bad ideas outright?

In the animated series “The Legend of Korra,” Republic City faces that exact question when tensions between the benders and non-benders (Equalists) heat up. However, instead of addressing the Equalists' concerns in an honest and faithful manner, Republic City decides to use coercion and force. As it turns out, that decision only adds fuel to the fire.

Our modern political climate should heed this lesson: Bad ideas should be met with patience and persuasion, not aggression.
